There were fireworks outside, that I remember. But, I only recalled such an insignificant detail because the pop and crackle of the distant pyrotechnics scared the dog and interrupted the sound of the coffeemaker. It was the fourth of July, and I was thinking about going for a ride on my motorcyle. .
